The real story

It started in 2006 with the girl Myint Myat Thu(then 6 years) ... which was accidentally found by Gui Geuns in a small village(Htaw Hto village) near Twante(10 miles from Yangon).

She suffered from a severe form of 'meningocele', a life-threatening tumour in the face. Her parents were very poor and could not afford her  medical treatment.
Gui then decided, together with a number of volunteers, to help this girl. She was first operated in Yangon, a few years later in Nay Pyi Taw and Taunggyi.  Myint Myat Thu is currently (2018) 18 years old and is doing very well (see photos above).
When FMMT was founded in May of 2009, we gave the foundation her name. It turned out to be a nice coincidence that the name 'Myint Myat Thu' in Burmese means 'the noble'.

Between 2009 and 2013, dozens of patients were helped by Foundation Myint Myat Thu(FMMT) in Yangon and in Taunggyi. From 2013, after the resignation of two founders, FMMT quickly became a well-organized and efficient aid organization, systematically helping sick and handicapped children. The care took place mainly in 'Tun Medial Centre' of Taunggyi and in 'Otari Thiri' hospital in Nay Pyi Taw. Various types of abnormalities or disabilities were cured (tumours, burns, fractures, internal problems, plastic corrections, etc ..). Head of the team was Dr. K.A. Htun from Aung Ban, a very competent and involved doctor, who performed extraordinary in the medical field. The financing and coordination was done in behalf of the Foundation by Gui Geuns. Thanks to the support of people in Belgium and the work of an enthusiastic team of volunteers, more than 200 children in total were helped between 2013 and 2017.

At the same time preparations were made and plans  to set up an important educational project in Myanmar: the constructing of a    'Special Education Center ' in Taunggyi.

In the medical field, FMMT nowadays takes on more the role of    detector and refferer. In the next door and new 'Myat Thar Shin Free Clinic Taunggyi' patients still receive excellent help from Dr. K.A. Htun and his team, today financed by our partner aid organization 'Myat Thar Shin'.
